This one's pretty simple, but there's a story. In my childhood home, we cooked grilled cheese in the toaster. But, when I was a teenager, I was part of a religious youth group that went on "conclaves" once every couple of months, and we'd stay at someone's house. Barry Edwards's mother (pseudonym) made grilled cheese in a frying pan, and at the age of fourteen, I thought it was the best thing ever. I hadn't thought of ever doing it until I listened to "The Fine Cooking Podcast," as I've been getting into cooking and I need a podcast to satiate my love of cuisines. The host mentioned cooking in butter, and I got an idea for what to do with my last piece of rye bread.
